After six weeks at No. 1, Lady Gaga drops to No. 4, handing the Social 50 crown back to Justin Bieber (3-1). As the frenzy around the release of her album “Born This Way” calms, she saw declines in plays (-32%), views (-60%) and fans (-15%) across all monitored social networks and music outlets.
Meanwhile, the Biebs saw an increase in YouTube views (15%), perhaps due to taking home Collaborative Video of the Year at the CMT Music Awards (June 8). Months back, he worked with Rascal Flatts on the ballad “That Should Be Me” and since the video debuted, it has garnered well over 19 million YouTube views.
The Social 50 ranks the most active artists on the world’s leading social networking sites — YouTube, Vevo, Facebook, Twitter, MySpace and iLike — using a formula blending weekly additions of friends/fans/followers along with weekly artist page views and weekly song plays.
